Judy Bell-Davis is an award winning interior design specialist for marine vessels which include luxury yachts, semi-custom, production and commercial boats. Her ability to blend high-tech construction methods, composite materials, colour, light, product design and ergonomics into prestigeous, unique and safe design is well recognized. Considered an expert in her field, her work is often showcased in yachting publications and boat shows throughout the world.
Bell-Davis, a 26-year design professional, is principal and founder of Bell Design Group, a full-service, state-of-the-art design studio. Along with designs for custom yacht interiors, with an 80% repeat or referral clientele, Bell-Davis also consults for and designs interiors for leading boat yards and manufacturers. Her design focus is to interpret the client's requests into a safe, comfortable and beautiful environment.
Judy Bell-Davis was elected president of the Society of Boat and Yacht Designers from 1992-1994 -- the first woman to serve in that role. She is a past member of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. She has served six years on the Advisory Board for Apparel, Merchandising and Interior Design at Washington State University, and is a past member of the Seattle Marine Business Coalition and The American Boat and Yacht Council, Inc. Bell-Davis is a frequent featured speaker and seminar leader and writes interior design columns for a variety of marine publications.
During her lifetime, the granddaughter of a West Coast boat builder, Bell-Davis has lived aboard, crewed on and owned boats. She studied liberal arts at the U. of Oregon; sculpting, gestalt graphic design and fiber art at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA - where her sculpting was featured in a one woman show; interior design at the Interior Design Institute in Bellevue, WA; and computer aided design (CAD) at North Seattle Community College. Her major strengths are considered her communication skills, project management and the intuitive identification of her client's project wishes.
